The Perfect Blow Out

Good morning ladies!
We all know you are on a strict budget when it comes to getting the perfect look for an event. We all wish we can go get a blow out every time we have somewhere to go however, it can start to get a little pricey.  Well don’t worry! Here at Bliink we got our gorgeous ladies covered.
I interviewed Gregory Patterson from Blow – no not the illegal drug – Blow NY, New York’s first ever Blow Dry Bar.
Blow NY are the pioneers, the ones who started it all. Blow Dry Bars are starting to be popping up everywhere. Blow outs are now the new manicures, and 80% of women blow dry their hair every single day, therefore Gregory Patterson decided to start up Blow NY to create a in-and-out service that is as frequent as getting a manicure.
Q: What are your tips for the perfect do it yourself blow out?
A: Number 1 rule is to identify your hair type and texture. This will really set you up for the perfect blow dry at home. It will allow you to choose the correct products for the look you are desiring.
2. You need the appropriate tools.  Example; if you have a fine limp hair texture maybe you don’t need the strength of a boar bristle brush to really give you that tension and work-through the hair.
3. Identify the products you use and more importantly the right way to use and apply those products.
4. Utilizing your tools – sectioning clips, round brushes.
Q: Is it better to do a blow out freshly washed or on a “dirty” day?
A: No defiantly not. When you style your hair it’s better that it’s not freshly washed. However, when getting done a blow out – you’re setting down a foundation therefore, it’s super essential to cleanse the hair, remove any residue and any products.
Q: What is the technique we need to know about to get the perfect blow out?
A: Take into consideration of how much hair you do have. I would do three major sections – behind the ear to the other side of the ear you have that bottom half. Then top of the head ear to ear and then the third section is whatever is left on the top.
Take those sections and just start working through with your tools. Starting at the bottom is the easiest cause’ gravity is working with you. Pulling your round brush, getting the tension through and getting the root dry – so important.
Q: What are your favorite tools to work with?
A: Oh, defiantly, defiantly a wide-tooth comb. They are great for eliminating static so when your sectioning your hair, you’re not creating static.
Also you have to have sectioning clips, they are so essential.
A good blow dryer.
Q: What is your favorite blow dryer?
A: I personally am not a fan of a $200 blow dryer. I don’t get it. I think there are amazing blow dryers on the market for $60 – $70. Obviously it’s still a little more investment than something you can get at your drugstore, but you’re investing in a blow dryer that will last and take you through a couple years. I use them for thousands of blow outs every month and I still only replace mine once a year so if you’re doing it at home it should last you at least 2 years.
Q: Tell us about your own line of products
A: Ready-Set-Blow is a must have especially for the at home blow dry. Read-Set-Blow is our express blow dry lotion. It’s every tool you want in one bottle. Eliminates frizz, calms flyaways, anti-humetic, smooth, super-shine light weight hold and plumping all in one! Also all our products have not an ounce of alcohol.
Also so many of our clients come in for the perfect I just came back from the beach look, therefore I decided to create a product made for that particular look called Beach-Blow. If you want sex, bombshell hair? We have bottled it for you. This product gives you the look of Gisele Bundchen Oh My Gosh what just happened in the bedroom – hair.
Q: What are your other must haves?
A: Defiantly a dry shampoo to absorb some of that oil and give some refreshment and life back into your hair.
Also every girl needs a good hair spray. We have our Serious Non-Stick Hair Spray – it will not get sticky, or crunchy. You can brush through all day long. You spray it then set it and it’s done. It’s super shiny and anti-humetic. Also all of our products have a pure protein blend in them. Blow NY is putting proteins back into the hair.

Oscar Fashion Recap

Mila Kunis, the Black Swan beauty looked absoultly lovely in a Elie Saab lavander gown. A srt of diamond earing and bracelet with a simple updo made her stunning.

14 year old Hailee Steinfeld is one of my favourites! In a beautiful blush pink Marchesa dress, Hailee looks like a princess. I am so glad she went with an age appropriate dress - actually a little fact is Hailee designed this dress herself and Marchesa custom made for Hailee only.

Hilary Swank was seen in a beautiful strapless Gucci gown. This fethered metallic combination has been seen multiples times before, however Hilary still looks stunning.

One of my favourite dresses is Camilia Alves, Matthew McConaughey’s baby-mama, wearing a classic silhouette but still modern with the plunging neckline and the over sized waist band. LOVE!

Jennifer Hudson showing off her successful weightloss in a tight fitting tangerine colored Versace dress. This dress looks wonderful on Jennifer however, the cleavage should have stayed a bit more hidden.
Sandra Bullock always looks AMAZING. I love this red simple Vera Wang gown. Sandra can never go wrong.
Reese Witherspoon looks plain in a Gorgio Armani Prive gown. This look to me looks like Reese got together in 20 minutes. The pony tail was distracting and wished she had kept her hair down to give a more glamourous look.

Academy Award winner for Best Actress, and spokesperson for Dior - Natalie Portman - shows off her baby bump in a beautiful plum Rodarte gown. Natalie actually refused to wear a Dior dress after the "i love hitler" comment John Galliano was video taped saying.
*Side note: Rodarte actually did all the costumes for the movie Black Swan which is a little hidden connection there.

The Halle Berry always looks gorgeous on the red carpets. Wearing a crystal champagne Marchesa dress is the perfect combination of sexyness and sophistication.

Anne Hathaway wearing a vintage Valentino bustle gown.
